If you have been following The Loop Lyfe on social media then you know that I did not spend my NYE celebrations in Houston. Instead, I decided to travel to Seattle, Wa. Why? Well, it’s a 50/50 answer. 50% was because I fell in love with the city and the other 50% was for a guy that I met (more on that later).
If you’re reading this then you know that I am NOT one to blend in with a crowd! I always like to make a big splash wherever I go. And it’s no exception when I go to the gym either. So when my gal pal Patty from Style By Patty told me about these new bright & bold leggings from Personal & Co Activewear, I was ecstatic to partner up with them!
Want a reason to workout? Well, I may have JUST the thing. Nothing puts a little extra pep in your step than looking good, right? Well, thanks to Derek Lam, we can now look good in and out of the gym.
Derek Lam 10 Crosby released its first limited edition collection with Athleta’s first limited edition. Each piece is uniquely designed with geometrical shapes and bold colors. The fabric is also super soft and lightweight which is perfect for any activity.
Check out some of my favorite pieces:
The collection is available online and in some select stores. Houstonians are lucky because the Athleta in Rice Village was chosen to carry the collection!
The store held a mini-fashion show to display the new collection. Models for the show ranged from yoga instructors to freelance magazine writers and bloggers! The showcase wasn’t all about fashion though, it was also a charity event benefiting Girls on the Run.
Girls on the Run is a non-profit organization that inspires middle school girls to be joyful, healthy and confident. The curriculum combines training for a 5K (3.1 miles) running event with lessons that inspire girls to become independent thinkers, enhance their problem solving skills and make healthy decisions.
Completing a 5k gives the girls a tangible sense of achievement as well as a framework for setting and achieving life goals. The result—making the seemingly impossible, possible and teaching girls that they can.

Have you ever spent hours scouring the internet looking for the perfect place to host a party? There are so many options in Houston yet there’s also not enough or not quite what we’re looing for. Well, I’m happy to report that you don’t have to look any further than SHARESPACE, Houston’s perfect event space.
Recently I decided to raise my blogging stakes and have a photoshoot! This shoot was a fun way for me to showcase my style & fashion. It’s also a way for you to get to know me better. Now, I haven’t received all my photos just yet but I figured why not release some teaser shots! I want to say thanks to Jared Li from JA Fusion Photography, Albany from Iriswings and Nikki from Nikki Lea Beautyy for making this such a creative and fun process!
I’ll soon be leaving the Houston humidity for the tropical paradise that is Puerto Rico. It’s a vacation that is MUCH needed. This will be my second time visiting Puerto Rico and it’s one of my favorite places to visit. PR has great food, shops, people, weather, and most importantly, it doesn’t cost that much to vacation there!
The main purpose of my trip is to celebrate my dear friend’s wedding. But that doesn’t mean I can’t go exploring the town while I’m there, right?
In order to have time for everything I want to do, I made an itinerary of “musts,” and boy do I plan to do them all!
- Get lost in Old San Juan — Explore the great local shops and restaurants.
- Sample Some Local Food — Must try the lechon, mofongo, exotic tropical fruit, & rum drinks.
- Hike a Tropical Rain Forest — This usually means El Yunque National Forest, but there are others here, too.
- Best Beaches: You must go to la Isla Verde. You can also visit Balneario Monserrate in Luquillo, or Playa Puerto Nuevo.
- Go Deep Into the Caves: Cueva Ventana is one of my favorite caves. Rio Camuy Caves Park is also good.
- Take an Adventure: Ziplines, ATVs, Rappelling, Hang Gliding, Horseback Riding.
- Nightlife: Dance till 5am at Club Brava!
- Relax! After all, it’s a vacation! — Open up to cultural differences and new experiences. Slow down. Relax. It will get done when it gets done. Leave all expectations at home. Just let it be.
Ohh, and let’s not forget the must have wardrobe essentials! Here are a few things that I’m taking with me on my trip.
If you are not already subscribed to Houston Tidbits, just know that you SHOULD BE! It’s a great site created by a group women working hard to bring you the best beauty and shopping deals around town as well as invites to all of Houston’s top events.

Diamonds and Desserts, what a wonderful combination right? You can bet I was excited when I first heard about this event! Last week I attended the 2nd annual Diamonds and Desserts Soiree at Robbins Brothers in the Galleria area. The event was hosted by Houston designer and Project Runway winner Chloe Dao.
I must say the first thing I thought of when walking inside the store filled with the best diamonds a girl could dream of, was that scene in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. The entire night I kept saying to myself: “Ladies, Frost Yourselves!” LOL. And the ladies did, some of my fellow Houston Fashion Bloggers tried on diamond rings that would make any girl swoon.
Anyway, the room was filled with bloggers and style trend-setters ready to try on jewelry and see Chloe’s new bridal collection. The dresses were gorgeous! I fell in love with just about every dress. You can shop her collection here.
The event was more than jewels and yummy treats, it was also a way to promote Girls Inc., a charitable organization which equips young women with the skills and support for success. Their motto is: Be Strong, Be Smart, Be Bold!
In fact, one of the models in the fashion show was from Girls Inc., Rakiya McClure dazzled in a Chloe Dao cocktail dress. She also shared why she loves being a part of Girl’s Inc.
Ohh, and one more highlight of the night, I won a gorgeous diamond necklace! Thanks to Robbins Brothers for making a gal feel really special!
There was a sea of well-dressed fashionistas this past weekend at Houston’s Premium Outlet Stores. And no, it wasn’t JUST due to Tax Free weekend. Style expert and TV personality George Kotsiopoulos was in town to promote Gap Factory’s “Exclusively Styled” campaign. This new campaign shows off Gap Factory’s 2014 spring collection. These trends and styles are at value pricing, making it easy for anyone to afford.
During the event, I got the chance to chat with the style guru himself. He shared a lot of great tips on upcoming fashions for the fall. “It’s all about bright colors,” he said. “Try to keep things fresh with layered accessories and pop-art prints. Oh, and don’t forget a good pair of white distressed jeans (like the one here) from Gap Factory.”
George also mentioned that when it comes to fashion, it’s all about the fit and finding the items that work best for your body type. And speaking of body types, a little tip for those up and coming fashion stylists, George said “to be a stylist, you must be able to dress all body types. Anyone can dress a size 0 model. It’s about having the eye to know what works for any man or woman.
P.S. When asked how he liked Houston he said, “I like it. I just came back from Dallas and it seems a little bit prettier here. Dallas is a little crazy and it’s different, but I really do like it here.”
Need a space to host a rocking party? Look no further, River Oaks Event Studio is here to meet your needs. Located in the heart of River Oaks, this studio is trendy and posh all rolled into one. I attended the Grand Opening Event last week and I have to say that I was beyond pleased by the space. Decorated with glimmering pink and purple lights, glitter table cloths, and pink flowers, the space was gorgeous! The grand opening was filled with sexy people and vendors like Snapped by Nicole, Deep Eddy Vodka, Kim’s Kreationz, Unik Lounge & Party Rentals and LG Entertainment. Background information: The venue can accommodate 60 guests seated and up to 120 guests in a cocktail setting. The space also comes with a full working kitchen and bathrooms. Oh, and there is no need to worry about decorations. River Oaks Event Studio Owner, Fairrus Whitney, also owns What’s the Occasion decor rental.
