Austin Fashion Week 2017 kicked it off with a BANG this year! So many talented designers showed off their latest collections and wowed everyone. My first features for this 3-part recap post starts with Melissa Fleis and her perfectly structured collection. The all black design pictured below was one of my favorites. The structured jacket with popped collar gives us a real badass vibe and then check out the teal socks she’s paired with black strappy heels. The 13-piece collection screamed classic, edgy and dark all at the same time.
This next look was probably one of my favorites because of the versatility of it. You can wear it to work, a date night, or a GNO.
The teal socks made their way back for the final look of the night. Overall, this runway was a subtle one to appreciate. The colors are classic and timeless, but the sprinkle of teal gave the collection a different dimension.
The ASFD runway is was unique in that all of the designers are kids! Each one came up with a design and brought their vision to life on the runway. This look is in line with the current bright OTS trend.
This next young designer opted for a more casual look with an all black jumpsuit. Can’t go wrong there.
And what about this yellow number? I loved the details of the full bottom skirt with the sprinkle of the yellow lining. Oh, and the velvet top? Yes, please!
She knows how to get a crowd’s attention. All eyes were on her as she twirled her skirt on the runway.
Final walk…so much talent on one runway.
I was LOVED that AFW 2017 gave ASFD the opportunity to show off their aspiring designers. Behind the scenes, the young designers said they were excited and nervous. I thought they did a great job!
