Madeline J. Pena
I was born in Guatemala and moved to Lafayette, Louisiana when I was 5 years-old. I’m now living in Houston and proud to call myself a Houston Latina Blogger! My blog is all about strutting the best version of yourself. I always carry my #CGAttitude (City Girl Attitude) everywhere I go. To have a #CGA means being confident, constantly evolving and being unapologetically you!
So, what’s my story?
Simple. All I ever wanted to do in life was help people and I thought that studying Broadcasting would help me accomplish that. When I moved to Houston about 9 years ago, I interned at KPRC-TV, worked my butt off day in and day out until I landed a full-time job 4 months later. I quickly worked my way up from an editor to the station’s first Multimedia Journalist/Associate Producer. What does that mean? Well, I can do it all! I can write, shoot & edit videos.
After my stint at KPRC, I decided to pursue a different career path. Knowing that I love to talk to people, enjoy coordinating events, and have a creative eye for what works; I decided to enter the joyous world of Marketing. I can’t wait to see what this new career path has to offer me.
One thing I want people to know after reading the “About Me” section is to feel how passionate I am about LIFE! The reason is simple and can be described by two words: My mother!
She moved our family to the U.S. because at the time she felt this is where we would have better opportunities. And guess what? It was. I remember her 12+ hour work days, her sleepless nights, and the daily sacrifices she made to make sure we had everything we needed.
This is the reason why I work so hard. I know what it is like to not have, I learned from her struggle and it has made me a better person for it. It also made me realize that no matter where my career takes me, I must always have a positive attitude, be willing to help anyone, and always have an open mind to learn new things.
