If you know me then you know that I rarely like to leave the Houston loop to attend an event. But when the opportunity presented itself to travel to Mexico for Fashion week….How could I say no? So, I quickly hoped on my United flight and was on my way to Mexico City and I could not be more excited! Especially because I was invited by designer Lydia Lavin and Malafacha to attend and cover their runway shows! Thanks again for the invite. Before we get into the fashion, I want to give a huge shout-out to the hotel staff at Presidente Intercontinental Mexico. They really went above and beyond to make sure that my stay was enjoyable. And what’s not to love at that hotel? Oh and the best part was that it was a 5 minute walk to Fashion Central! Check out some of the stunning hotel pictures:
Now, on to MBFWMx….I was there for the 2nd day and the only words I can find to describe it are…….Incredible, Breathtaking, and B I G! The tent was packed with fashionistas from all over the world! The cameras were flashing and the music was bumping. I was ready to meet and mingle with my fellow Latina(o)s. When you first walk in, you are greeted by a hallway full of vendors. Everything you could ever want is in that hallway. Jewelry, clothes, handbags, shoes, menswear, etc. After you’ve spent basically all of your savings on everything, you enter here……
After enjoying the party, drinks, dancing, and the cute boys; it was time for the my first show of the night – Lydia Lavin! This Mexican designer has been in the business for 10 years and she KNOWS what makes women look and feel beautiful. Her designs are romantic and traditional but each piece has an avant-garde element to it.
The final show I attended was Malafacha! The designer is known for his urban and alternative streetwear designs. Francisco Saldaña as the fashion designer and Víctor Hernal as the visual communicator, together have presented 15 collections since the beginning of their brand.
Thanks again for inviting me to attend the show. I had a great time and I can’t wait to attend again. Check out more pictures of Fashion Week below:
